Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doesn’t Know the 3 Branches of Government

Inexplicably, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is now a representative-elect about to serve in one of the nation’s three branches of government. In spite of this reality, though, the socialist Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t seem to know what the three branches of government are.

In a recent interview, Ocasio-Cortez discussed the importance of taking back “all three chambers of Congress” before quickly “correcting” herself to say “all three chambers of government – the Presidency, the Senate, and the House”. Now, if you ever took a middle school civics class, chances are you already know that’s not how it works.

There are two chambers of Congress – the House and the Senate – and three branches of the federal government – the legislative branch, the judicial branch, and the executive branch. As a Congresswoman-elect, Ocasio-Cortez is set to serve in one of these chambers of Congress and one of these branches of government. Yet she somehow doesn’t know what they’re called.

Imagine if you went to have an operation and the surgeon about to operate on you didn’t know that the building he worked in was a called a hospital. It wouldn’t be very comforting. Yet, now, we’re about to turn over a portion of power and control of the American government to someone who has demonstrated time and time again that she doesn’t have the first clue about how the government works. That’s certainly not very comforting either.
