When most people think of body armor, they imagine those in the armed forces or perhaps elite law enforcement squads. Aside from this, the only other people who seem to invest in the gear are gun nuts.
Not anymore — at least not in New York City.
According to One America News, private citizens — many of whom have never purchased something like this in their lives — are buying body armor vests just so they can walk to work and back. Supply stores are reporting shortages, and are urging New Yorkers to get their orders in sooner rather than later.
Violent crime has surged in New York City as authorities announce more cuts to law enforcement. Like many other major cities in America, the Big Apple has been rocked by social unrest, often under the guise of political protest. Many police officers have been attacked by far-left radicals in broad daylight.
If armed officers aren’t safe, private citizens are even less so. And as anyone in America knows, New York City is one of the hardest places in the city to legally defend yourself from violence.
