You know the biggest problem the Democrats have is? Believe it or not, it isn’t the fact that the entire top tier of presidential candidates are aging white millionaires. It isn’t even the fact that one of them is an actual socialist who spent the entirety of his life stumping for communist dumpster fires throughout his entire adult life.
Democrats are just so…boring.
We’re not just talking about the people that make up the party — but try listening to Senator Bernie Sanders ramble on about wealth distribution for more than three minutes, and you’ll have a hard time staying awake. The very philosophy that inspires these people to attempt to lord over us in the first place is about as boring as it gets. You see, patriotism is passionate — as is a love for a free market that encourages productive competition. Say whatever you want about the Republican Party, but they’re never going to bore you to death the way Democrats do.
This was basically the theme of the last Democratic primary debate hosted by CNN in Iowa ahead of the first official primary contest. Unlike previous debates, the bottom tier of the pool was cut out complete, featuring only Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer, and Pete Buttigieg. On paper, this should have been a much easier debate to watch that the previous installments. Candidates had more time to talk, make their case, and even address one another. You know…you could have an actual debate without having what seemed like the entire Democratic Party struggling to fit onto the stage.
Here’s the thing: absolutely nothing new happened during that debate. Instead of addressing contemporary issues and really challenging one another, candidates found themselves rehashing the same talking points we’ve been hearing for years. Bernie Sanders mumbled on about climate change while responding to a question about free trade. Elizabeth Warren and Sanders did trade some soft blows, but nothing that encouraged any reasonable person to stay awake for the entire debate.
You know things are bad when even CNN’s Van Jones laments the evening as a waste of time. Even he admits that Democrats aren’t doing anything that would make President Donald Trump nervous, and he’s right. If this election cycle continues in this way, the president is going to have a very easy re-election. Perhaps we should be thankful that Democrats have no appeal at all beyond promising free money without a way to pay for it.
Here’s Tim Pool with the details.
