Former Republican presidential candidate and Godfather’s Pizza CEO died last week after being diagnosed with COVID-19, making him among the highest profile deaths attributed to the global pandemic.
Cain has been in the public eye since his GOP primary run in 2012, which he lost to former Massachusetts Governor and now Utah Senator Mitt Romney. Since 2016, he has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump. And this right here is exactly why the coverage surrounding his passing has been as negative as it has.
The first thing you probably heard from the mainstream media after the reported death was Cain’s opposition to forced face mask requirements, and the fact that he attended President Trump’s rally in Tulsa just weeks prior. What you didn’t hear about was the fact that the man was 74 at the time of his death – putting him in the most vulnerable demographic for the Wuhan virus. He has also had health complications in the past, which reportedly exacerbate the affects of COVID-19.
To the Left, Cain was “asking for it” by refusing to wear a mask and attending a mass rally. Of course, this is not the same language used to describe people attending “peaceful protests” which then turn into riots. Are those people “asking for it” when they are hit with rubber bullets and tear gas? Leftists have no answer for this.
Needless to say, the coverage of Cain’s passing is nothing if not disgusting. Readers must keep this in mind the next time a high-profile death is reported, because the attitude will depend entirely on the person’s politics.
Here’s Ben Shapiro with more.
