Progressive filmmaker and left-wing activist Michael Moore is cautioning fellow liberals not to get too excited about Joe Biden’s chances in November.
When the filmmaker warned Democrats in 2016 that Hillary Clinton would lose the Presidential election, infuriated liberals refused to listen to him. Four years later, he’s once again sounding the alarm.
As Moore candidly notes, no one really loves Biden the same way many Americans love President Donald Trump. The only thing driving liberal voters is a hatred of Trump, not a passion for their own candidate.
“Trump has lost none of his base and they are more rabid than ever,” Moore wrote on social media.
Mainstream news media outlets have panned President Trump’s re-election campaign, noting that the turnout for his recent Tulsa rally was lower than the 100,000 people expected to attend. Moore, however, noticed something that liberal activists and mainstream media outlets didn’t.
“Sleeping on the sidewalk for five nights just to get in to see Trump? THAT is commitment,” Moore added. “Do not take Trump for granted. Don’t think he can’t win. Don’t get all cocky telling everyone there’s no way he’s winning the White House because, frankly, you sound a lot like yourself four years ago when you told everyone there’s no way this country is going to put a clown in the Oval Office.”
Moore has not suddenly turned into a Trump supporter. In fact, he not only pans the president by calling him a clown, but also predicts that President Trump will lose the popular vote by an even wider margin than Hillary Clinton did. Even so, the liberal icon has made it clear that he feels President Trump will still win re-election because Biden’s supporters aren’t really “supporters” at all.
It’s not hard to see why Biden’s supporters don’t have an ardent love and appreciation for their man. More than half of voters realize that the former VP is in the early stages of dementia. Also, the young voters the Democratic Party all too often depends on view Biden as a second-tier choice — Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was their pick.
Let’s be clear about this: there is no chance that Michael Moore won’t vote for Joe Biden. Of course he will. However, Moore is one of those liberals that will occasionally say things that make sense. He knows most liberals live in a bubble. He knows voters can be overconfident. More importantly, he knows there is nothing about Joe Biden to be excited about.
