Throughout the debate on reopening, partisan Democrats have slammed Republicans over their push to reopen the economy after months of stalled activity.
While the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has credited the shutdown for helping to flatten the curve and allow the medical industry more time to prepare for a surge of patients, it’s clear now that the Chinese-born virus isn’t the only threat to public health. The United Nations has issued a warning that prolonged lockdowns could cause mass starvation and death.
Despite this, Democrats have dismissed calls for reopening as “anti-science.” Apparently, there are scores of doctors who disagree.
One of the biggest myths promulgated during this whole saga is that the medical community has been of one mind throughout this crisis. It hasn’t. This simply isn’t true. However, social media titans like YouTube and Facebook have been more than happy to promote this narrative by removing videos of credited doctors speaking out against forced quarantines.
Fortunately, Silicon Valley can’t censor what happens in real life — at least not yet. A letter addressed to President Donald Trump shows that there is a real movement within the medical community to restore America’s freedoms, and accept that health risks are simply part of living.
