How Democrats FAILED to Deliver Upon 2018 Campaign Promises

Heading into 2020, Democrats are once again asking everyday Americans for their vote despite the fact they failed to deliver on every single campaign promise from 2018. As the old saying goes: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, shame on me.”

If anything positive can be said about a party that continues to embrace liberal extremism, it’s that they are consistent. That consistency has been repeatedly demonstrated in an unprecedented political losing streak. Unfortunately for 2020 Democrat hopefuls, most hard-working Americans are pleased that the party has completely and utterly failed. Their policies were hatched from the far-left, and former moderates have been forced to toe the party line or face primary challenges and loss of funding.

The wave of enthusiasm in liberal-leaning districts that helped House Democrats secure a majority is unlikely to return to the polls with confidence in 2020. Those brilliant-sounding political platforms and promises to make districts flush with federal cash never happened. The most demonstrable mishap was the so-called Green New Deal. Democrats spent taxpayer time and money creating a massive package they claimed would save the world from climate disaster, right the economy, and usher in prosperity. They claimed that only President Donald Trump stood in the way.

“We’re trying to work with folks in the House and outside groups to turn this idea into more tangible, actual legislation, for sure,” former Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) communication director Corbin Trent reportedly said. “I think the goal here is to get this work done. We’ve seen more and more folks are co-sponsoring this legislation in the House and in the Senate. More and more candidates are getting behind this as a concept, and I think the next step is fleshing out the plans and bills and making this thing a reality.”

The Green New Deal was to be the defining piece of legislation for the party of welfare and socialism. What they didn’t count on was Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell giving them a floor vote. Despite nearly every Democrat declaring full, unbridled support, not a single elected official cast a vote in favor of the $2.5 trillion hoax. Even AOC pressed fellow Democrats to vote present or just abstain. It was a failure of epic proportions. And that summarizes the last two years as House Democrats have not passed a single meaningful piece of legislation or delivered on any of their 2018 campaign promises.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi ran, in part, on a platform that she would deliver a massive infrastructure package to California. She already had President Trump onboard to put forward a deal, under specifically negotiated terms.

“I walked into the room, and I told Sen. Schumer, Speaker Pelosi, ‘I want to do infrastructure. I want to do it more than you want to do it. I’d be really good at that. That’s what I do,” President Trump said at the time. “But you know what. You can’t do it under these circumstances. So, get these phony investigations over with.’”

The president’s demand that the phony witch hunts end, coupled with the position of congressional Republicans that taxes not be raised, brought an end to talks within about 90 minutes. Democrats reportedly insisted they continue to smear the president with false narratives and demanded the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that helped create the economic boom be rolled back.

It may seem hard to imagine, but rather than seek common ground and engage in substantive talks, Democratic leaders walked out like petulant third-graders complaining the president was mean to them. Their constituents would see roads and bridges rebuilt with the $2 trillion the president was willing to support if responsibly funded. Although these were Democrats’ two big-ticket items in 2018, even the minor ones seem to have evaporated.

The left pushed a Medicare for All policy that never went anywhere in Congress. And, Sen. Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren recently took a face-plant after her package was pegged at about $20 trillion. She may be able to claim that funding this expensive beast would not result in the middle class paying more taxes with a straight face. But no one is taking her campaign promise seriously.

The far-left’s “resist and obstruct” promises to upend the travel ban and prevent President Trump from building his “big beautiful” border wall also fell flat. The president has won nearly every critical issue at the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Army Corps of Engineers reportedly completes one mile of new border wall every day. The problem heading into 2020 isn’t that Democrats’ losses outweigh their wins. It’s that they have no wins.
