Those hoping former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony on Capital Hill last week would reveal earth-shattering news about President Donald Trump were sorely disappointed. Particularly vexed with the outcome, MSNBC personality Donny Deutsch took to the airwaves to call for Democrats to do “whatever we have to do” to get the President behind bars.
The host of “Saturday Night Politics” made his outrageous comments while appearing on the far left network’s “Morning Joe” on July 26, 2019. He began his tirade by boldly declaring “we are at war.”
“With all due respect to Michelle Obama, when they go low, we gotta do whatever we have to,” he said. The MSNBC personality was referring to the former first lady’s popular quote “If they go low, we go high.”
Seemingly unhinged, Deutsch remarked, “There are two takeaways from Mueller as we go to war. No. 1: The president broke the law, and when he’s out of office he can go and will go to jail. And No. 2: We are vulnerable with our election system. That’s our two things.”
The “Saturday Night Politics” host went on to say, “We may not have won the battle of impeachment, but we’re going to win the war of putting him in jail — whatever we have to do — and we’re not going to necessarily play fair.”
Anticipating that some, even on the left, might feel his call is too rash, Deutsch stated, “And for all the intellectuals out there whose hair is going to go on fire — ‘But we’re becoming like them! We’re becoming like them!’ — we cannot lose the next election. We will go back 50 years.” TheBlaze reported that Deutsch’s “comments come as an increasing number of Democrats have conceded that pursuing impeachment against President Trump is a lost cause, especially following Mueller’s congressional testimony on Wednesday — which many had hoped would reveal damaging information against the president.”
Interestingly, the Washington Times reported that Deutsch make his remarks exactly one day after former MSNBC host Krystal Ball maligned the liberal media outlet and accused it of fueling “feverish Russian conspiracy theories.” Now employed by The Hill, Ball maintained on Hill.TV, “After watching over seven hours of a spectacle that felt much more cruel than enlightening, I can no longer avoid pondering a question, which honestly gives me no joy to ponder” She went on to inquire, “Just how much damage has MSNBC in particular done to the left? Now, this critique is not meant to be personal to the anchors and the commentators there, many of whom I know — some of whom are actually close friends having worked at the network for five years, but nearly all of whom got swept up in the ratings bubble that was feverish Russian conspiracy theories.”
Ball conceded that any man-made system is going to face problems. But, she contended that MSNBC’s coverage concerning Trump’s 2016 campaign and the government’s Russia probe was especially terrible. She stated, “I dare to say, some talent did drink more deeply of the Russia conspiracy than others. Rachel Maddow, you’ve got some explaining to do.”
Needless to say, Trump seemed pleased with the result of Mueller’s testimony. On the day of the hearing, the President tweeted, “I would like to thank the Democrats for holding this morning’s hearing. Now, after 3 hours, Robert Mueller has to subject himself to #ShiftySchiff – an Embarrassment to our Country!”
In another tweet, Trump said, “The kind of questions the White House Correspondents were asking is almost like they didn’t see what went on at the hearings!” @JesseBWatters The hearings were a disaster for Robert Mueller & the Democrats. Nevertheless, the Fake News Media will try to make the best out of it!”
Intriguingly, Trump also retweeted comments from leftist documentary filmmaker Michael Moore. Introducing the shared tweet, the President said, “Even Michael Moore agrees that the Dems and Mueller blew it!”
Moore’s tweet read in part, “A frail old man, unable to remember things, stumbling, refusing to answer basic questions…”
Desperate Democrats will stop at nothing to get Trump out of office in 2020 or sooner. And, as Deutsch illustrated, fighting fair is decidedly not on some of their agendas.
