Rashida Tlaib Makes SHOCKING Comments About the Holocaust

Freshman U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has done it again. The controversial lawmaker has managed to humiliate Jews and infuriate her colleagues across the aisle. During an interview with Dan Klaidman on Yahoo News’ “Skullduggery” podcast last week, Tlaib related how she experiences a “calming feeling” when she reflects on the Holocaust due to how her Palestinian ancestors helped “create a safe haven for Jews.” But, the freshman Congresswoman maintained this role was “forced on” them “in a way that took their human dignity away” according to TheBlaze.

During the sit-down, Tlaib commented, “There’s kind of a calming feeling, I always tell folks, when I think of the Holocaust and the tragedy of the Holocaust and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, the human dignity, their existence in many ways had been wiped out.” She went on to say, “All of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post the Holocaust, post the tragedy and horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And, I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right? But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away, right? And it was forced on them.”

Tlaib made her eyebrow raising remarks after Klaidman asked her about her support of a one-state solution between Israel and Palestine. Tlaib insisted that she advocates a one-state solution due to its ability to provide equity to Jews and Muslims alike. According to TheBlaze, “Klaidman was quick to call out the freshman lawmaker, noting that a one-state solution would make Jews a minority in a single Arab-Israel state.” To this, Tlaib said, “But Dan it’s not up to us to decide what it looks like.” When the podcast host further pushed the freshman Congresswoman on the issue, she reportedly began attacking Israel’s newly re-elected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Tlaib claimed a two-state solution was “impossible” because Israel’s Prime Minister “proceeded to divide, how he has proceeded to dissect and segregate communities.”

TheBlaze pointed out that Tlaib’s remarks were controversial for more than one reason. Obviously, the Michigan Congresswoman’s statement about experiencing a “calming feeling” when remembering the Holocaust is problematic. TheBlaze also contended that Tlaib managed to completely rewrite history during her interview. The conservative media outlet stated, “Palestinian Arabs, in fact, did not welcome Jews with open arms after the Holocaust, nor did they provide welcome refuge during the war. Rather, Palestinian leaders were notoriously hostile to Jews. One leader in particular, Haj Amin al-Husseini, even maintained a close relationship with SS commander Heinrich Himmler, the mastermind behind Nazi ‘final solution.’”

Two leading Republican House members strongly admonished Tlaib for her outrageous remarks.

In a statement, Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Louisiana, said, “There is no justification for the twisted and disgusting comments made by Rashida Tlaib just days after the annual Day of Holocaust Remembrance. More than six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust; there is nothing ‘calming’ about that fact.” He added, “Unfortunately, this is far from the first display of heinous anti-Semitic comments coming from Democrat House members this year, and it’s clear this is now the norm for their caucus.”

GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, Wyoming, requested Democratic leaders rebuke the freshman Congresswoman for expressing “vile anti-Semitism.”

Cheney stated, “I call on Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi and Leader [Steny] Hoyer to finally take action against Representative Tlaib and other members of the Democratic caucus who are spreading vile anti-Semitism.” Continuing, Cheney remarked, “All of us, regardless of party, must stand as Americans against the evil of anti-Semitism. If the Democratic leadership continues to stand by in silence, they are enabling the spread of evil.”

On May 12, 2019, Tlaib responded to those who took issue with her comments about the Holocaust in a tweet. The freshman Congresswoman said, “Policing my words, twisting & turning them to ignite vile attacks on me will not work. All of you who are trying to silence me will fail miserably. I will never allow you to take my words out of context to push your racist and hateful agenda. The truth will always win.” TheBlaze reported that Tlaib’s office issued a statement after she wrote the tweet condemning Republicans and “right-wing extremists” for “spreading outright lies to incite hate.”
